Detroit and Minnesota duked it out and the Tigers came out victorious.

The Detroit Tigers stopped the Minnesota Twins, 5-4, at Metropolitan Stadium. The Tigers got a big game from Albie Pearson, who was 3 for 4 with 3 singles. Detroit is third in the American League with a record of 53-48.

Detroit used a well-timed hit by Bobby Higginson to capture the win. The right fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Tigers ahead, 5-4. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"We're all smiles after that win," Higginson told the Detroit Citizen.
