Guardians Dealt 5-4 Loss by Milwaukee
|
The Milwaukee Brewers weathered an outstanding game by Cleveland first baseman Hank Leiber to topple the Guardians, 5-4. Leiber went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Jose Lima, who finished 3rd in the NL in innings pitched with 227.2 in 1997, was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. At 38-63, the Brewers claim 9th place in the American League.
The Brewers got a big at-bat from catcher Shanty Hogan. For the game, Hogan was 1-4 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Milwaukee a 5-4 lead.
"This was a good win," said Hogan.
