New Haven Punchless in 8-0 Loss to Sox Wednesday, September 8th , 1999 In an outstanding mound performance, Raleigh Sox starter Jeff Karstens fired a complete-game shutout against the New Haven Ravens at Sox Stadium. Karstens was the key to the 8-0 Raleigh win. The 26-year-old right-hander was in high spirits for much of the game, his mood largely unfazed by the 4 hits and 1 walk he allowed. "4 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter, as long as it was a shutout." On the year, Karstens has no saves in no relief appearances with a 17-7 record and 2.42 ERA. |
