Mallards Advance to World Series Sunday, September 24th , 2000 After eliminating the Madison Express 5-4 in the League Championship Series at Madison Fields, the victorious Madison Mallards will now move on to the next round: the World Series. Madison beat Madison 4-1 in the series. The MVP trophy was awarded to Mallards right fielder Geronimo Berroa, who knocked in 9 runs, hit .409 and scored 3 times. "The guys were all chanting 'M-V-P' when I went into the clubhouse," Berroa said later, with a smile. "It was kind of embarrassing but it feels great to be here." The Madison Mallards will play against the Glendale Herons in the next round. Glendale won their series against the Oxnard Silverbacks 4 games to 1. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes. |
