Herons Move on to World Series
Saturday, September 23rd , 2000
The Glendale Herons are one step closer to the World Series.
The club prevailed 12-0 at Oxnard Grounds tonight to eliminate the Oxnard Silverbacks and advance to the World Series.
The Herons won the series by a 4-1 margin, with second baseman and series MVP Billy Martin leading the way.
"I'm proud of all the guys," Martin said. "This was a team effort, not just me."
The Glendale Herons don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Madison Express - Madison Mallards series. Madison leads the series 2 games to 1. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
