Sheets Shines, Shuts Out Madison, 1-0 Monday, August 28th , 2000 The Madison Express manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Lansing Lugnuts. The Express were overpowered by Lansing starter Ben Sheets, who hurled his club to victory, 1-0. "It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," said. Over 9 innings, Sheets blanked Madison on 1 hit with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. "I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Sheets said. "I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one." This year, Sheets has posted a record of 8 wins and 7 losses with a 3.30 ERA. He has appeared in 20 games and struck out 114 in 131 innings. |
