Allen 5-for-7 for Chesterfield
Sunday, July 30th , 2000
Austin Allen was unstoppable, but the Chesterfield Royals were not.
Despite his hitting heroics at Kauffman Stadium, the Royals lost, 14-10, to the Raleigh Sox. Allen battered Raleigh for 5 hits in 7 at-bats. His only consolation will be a boost in his batting average and a brief mention in the record book.
Allen just shook his head after the game, telling BNN reporters, "It's the team with the most runs that wins, not the most hits."
Austin Allen singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Pat Osburn in the 8th, doubled in the 11th and grounded out in the 13th.
For the season, Allen is batting .291 with 57 hits and 5 home runs. He has scored 19 times and batted in 29.
