Kelly Collects Cycle Friday, July 21st , 2000 Pat Kelly truly did it all at Swarm Field. The Madison Mallards second baseman hit for the cycle -- collecting 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run -- as he paced his club to victory, 8-2, over the Providence Barons. "You know that sweet sound you hear when you hit the ball just right? I heard that every time today," Kelly said later. "It was a heck of a feeling." It was a game good enough for him to make a little history. He bombed Providence pitching for 4 hits in 5 at-bats and his name will now go into the record books. Kelly also racked up 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored in the game. Pat Kelly tripled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Scott Maine in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th and struck out in the 7th. So far this year, Kelly is batting .302 with 10 home runs, 39 RBIs and 58 runs scored. |
