James Slams 5 Hits for Oxnard Sunday, July 16th , 2000 5 hits in a game is a rare thing, but Oxnard's Art James made it happen against the Pioneers. Everything came together at the plate for the 27-year-old right fielder as he collected 5 hits in 7 at-bats -- and helped the Silverbacks triumph, 7-6, at Oxnard Grounds. "I'm just out there to try and help the team win," James said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em." Art James singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Zach Clark in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, struck out in the 8th, singled in the 10th and hit an RBI single in the 12th. This season, James is batting .276 with 53 RBIs, 47 runs scored and 14 home runs. |
