He hurled the Huntington Beach Phoenix to a 7-0 shutout victory, yielded 1 hit and chalked up 7 strikeouts and 3 walks. "A complete-game shutout is fun territory for me," he told reporters in the postgame interview. "I had good balance and mechanics and was able to keep the ball down. When I do that, good things happen." In 17 starts this season, Hughes has chalked up a 10-4 record and a 4.12 ERA. |
