Lolich Leads Kattegat to 3-0 Win Over Garland
Sunday, June 25th , 2000
Mickey Lolich of the Kattegat Val'kyr was on top of his game.
The 33-year-old tantalized the Garland Americans with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 3-0.
"He had the changeup working," Garland manager said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Kattegat hurler had 9 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 5 hits in his complete-game effort.
Lolich told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
In 9 starts this year, Lolich has crafted a 4-3 record and a 3.75 ERA.
