Hughes Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Thursday, June 22nd , 2000 Bobby Hughes really sizzled at the plate in his team's 6-1 win over the Honolulu Pioneers. The Tampa catcher blistered Honolulu for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. "Hughes was too tough to get out today," the Pioneers skipper said in the postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too." Bobby Hughes singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Hector Carrasco in the 6th and singled in the 8th. This year, Hughes has hit 10 home runs and posted a .281 batting average. |
