Escalona Keeps Hit Streak Alive
Tuesday, June 6th , 2000
Felix Escalona, shortstop for the Oklahoma City Dodgers, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games with 1 hit in his club's 4-3 victory over the Hudson Valley Renegades at Silver Knights Field.
"I don't really know why it's even happening," he said with a grin after the game. "So asking me how long I can keep it up is kind of irrelevant. It'll end when it ends." Felix Escalona flied out in the 2nd, grounded out in the 5th, struck out in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
Looking at his present stats, Escalona has compiled a .347 batting average in 47 games with a .383 on-base percentage, while hitting 4 home runs and driving in 23 runs.
