Montreal-Philadelphia Deal Confirmed Thursday, November 2nd , 2000 In an effort to add some depth to its roster, the Montreal Expos have swapped a 1st round draft pick to the Philadelphia Phillies for 31-year old 3B Eddie Mathews. The Expos GM told reporters, "We saw a chance to upgrade our ball club and took it." As far as career numbers, Mathews has compiled a .256 batting average and collected 1642 hits, 369 home runs and 1250 RBIs. |
