Dave Silvestri Plans to Retire Tuesday, October 3rd , 2000 Dave Silvestri announced his retirement today according to sources inside the Montreal Expos organization. Silvestri, who is 36 years old, gave reporters some of his plans for the near future. "I'm going to do a lot of hunting and fishing," he said. "I've always been focused on getting ready for the next season, so maybe now I can slow down and enjoy time away from it all." Silvestri went back and forth with the press in a friendly manner during his press conference. "I'm sure there's a small-mouth bass out there with my name on it," he said. Silvestri has registered a career batting average of .226 with 184 hits, 27 homers and 105 RBIs. |
