Pete Ward Claims NL Batting Title Tuesday, October 3rd , 2000 After hitting .361 this season, Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Pete Ward was officially declared the 2000 National League batting titlist by the league office. The 24-year-old star smacked 207 hits in 149 games and added 32 home runs, 116 RBIs and 113 runs to his resume. "What can I say? I had a good year," Ward said with a smile to reporters after hearing the news. "A little luck didn't hurt either." |
