Phillies Marte to Miss Year Sunday, October 1st , 2000 The Philadelphia Phillies and their fans were rocked today by the news that star second baseman Ketel Marte would miss the rest of the season due to injury. Marte was hurt in a recent game against the Arizona Diamondbacks while colliding with a player at a base. He was immediately removed from the game and taken for examination. Tests today revealed the injury was a torn ligament in his thumb. His doctors think that Marte will miss about 4 weeks. Marte is swinging at a .335 pace on the year with 32 home runs, 124 RBIs and 130 runs scored. He has played in 157 games. |
