Arizona Third Baseman Best Rookie Sunday, October 1st , 2000 Youngster Pete Ward emerged as the latest National League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Arizona deserved the honor, batting .327 with 9 home runs and 26 RBI. Is the month of September a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Ward enjoy the limelight. Ward is batting .362 this season in 147 games with 31 home runs, 114 RBIs and 110 runs scored. He has 205 hits in 567 at-bats. |
