Montreal Won't Make Playoffs
Tuesday, September 26th , 2000
It's now time for the Montreal Expos to start turning their attention to what can be done to help improve the club for next season. The team was formally eliminated from playoff contention today for the 2000 season.
"We knew a title was a long shot at this point, but mentally there's a big difference between a tiny chance and no chance at all," said Expos closer Danny Patterson.
The Expos have missed the playoffs 19 times in their 21 years as a Fellowship of Respect and Trust franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 7th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 1993. In the last 10 seasons, the Expos have made the playoffs 2 times.
