Miami Playoff Hopes Officially Zero Friday, September 1st , 2000 After a tough year, the Miami Marlins have been the butt of jokes around many water coolers in the Miami area. There will be some new fodder for jaded fans to discuss now -- the club was officially eliminated from playoff contention today. This is the club's 2nd playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 1998. In total, the Marlins have missed the playoffs 8 times in their 21-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Marlins have missed the playoffs 5 times. Miami last won the World Series in 1986. |
