3 Bombs for Johnny Edwards
Friday, July 28th , 2000
The "hardest feat in sports" debate is a never-ending one with no correct answer, but hitting three home runs is certainly in the conversation. That's exactly what Johnny Edwards did at Coors Field, going deep three times and carrying his team to victory, 17-3.

"It all came together. I was seeing the ball well and I got some good pitches to hit," Edwards said. "Good things happen, when that happens."

The Colorado Rockies catcher blistered the Houston Astros for 4 hits, batted in 5 runs and scored 3 times.

"It ain't like we weren't trying," Houston manager Claybor Finley said. "He was hot and really torched my boys today."

Johnny Edwards walked in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jose Lima in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Mal Moss in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Jeff Reardon in the 8th.

So far this year, Edwards has hit .296 with 20 home runs, 65 RBIs and 57 runs scored.
