Seattle Crafts 5-4 Win
|
Chris Brown made an impact in the 5-4 Seattle win over St. Louis. Brown, who is tied for 9th in the AL in hits with 105, was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs. Seattle reliever Rocky Coppinger picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Sean Burnett absorbed the loss. Picking up the save was Bobby Jenks. He's now 4 for 10 in save chances.
Seattle used the timely hitting of Alex Avila to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Mariners on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was terrific getting this win," Brown said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
The losing streak for St. Louis has now reached 4 games.
