Yankees Fall Short, 3-2, at San Francisco
|
The San Francisco Giants eked out a 3-2 win versus the New York (A) Yankees at Eclipse Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Ben Hendrickson. He was terrific. San Francisco reliever Adbert Alzolay picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jack Sanford took the loss. Garrett Olson earned the save for San Francisco, his 17th of the year.
Had Ron Pruitt not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Pruitt hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Giants.
"I like our mindset right now," said San Francisco manager Jake Fegan.
New York (A) has now lost 4 straight.
