Brewers Get One-Run Win at St. Louis
|
The Milwaukee Brewers picked up a win at Busch Stadium, knocking off the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-5. Starting pitcher Homer Bailey was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Bailey, now 5-8. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. Picking up the save was Jonathan Broxton, his 20th.
Bobby Higginson had a big 2-run double for the Brewers in the top of the fifth inning. With Milwaukee leading 4-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from Jeff Suppan, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1993 draft, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 10th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Brewers ahead, 6-1.
"Homer did a nice job," said Brewers manager Mike Ejercito.
Milwaukee has an impressive 62-32 record.
