Houston Downed, 6-4, by Red Sox
|
The Boston Red Sox locked up a win at Minute Maid Park, knocking off the Houston Astros, 6-4. On the mound for Boston was right-hander Roy Oswalt. He played a major role in the triumph. Oswalt picked up the win for Boston, going 8 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 4-4. Mike Fiers recorded the save, making him 8 for 10.
Boston used the timely hitting of Adam Jones to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Oswalt.
After today's action, Boston sits at 43-52; Houston slips to 37-57.
