Despite a great performance by New York (A) center fielder Barney McCosky, the Texas Rangers defeated the Yankees by the score of 8-7 at Globe Life Field. McCosky went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Jose Veras picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Yorman Bazardo suffered the loss. Earning his 11th save for Texas was Mike Schooler.

Had Antonio Perez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Perez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Rangers.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Rangers manager Kyle Shea. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."

After today's action, Texas sits at 32-60, while New York (A) falls to 40-52.
