Red Sox Jolt Astros, 5-2, with Late Rally

The Houston Astros got a superb performance from pitcher Jake Peavy, but the Boston Red Sox still won the game, 5-2. Peavy threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Reliever Max Macon picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Joe Jimenez took the loss. Greg Bollo recorded the save for Boston, his 3rd of the season.
Adam Jones, who finished 2nd in the AL in triples with 8 in 1992, came through for Boston with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth. The center fielder went 2 for 3 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 3 runs batted in.
Said losing manager Claybor Finley: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."
The win gives Boston a record of 6-4.
