Twins Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Boston got a terrific game from shortstop Vern Stephens. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Minnesota, 6-5. Stephens was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Brusdar Graterol, now 1-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Minnesota, now 49-39, has won 10 straight games.
Jose Offerman came through with a big-time hit for Minnesota. The first baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Offerman.
