Multi-HR Day for Hale as Expos Overpower Astros, 13-4
|
The Montreal Expos cruised to a win over the Houston Astros, 13-4, at Stade Olympique. John Hale, who finished 3rd in the NL in RBI with 128 in 1996, led the way, going 4-for-4 for Montreal. Dave Boswell went 6 innings for Montreal to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs. He scattered 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. His record improves to 7-6. The Astros, now 35-50, have lost 4 straight.
With Montreal leading 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh, Hale hit a fastball from David Sanders for a 3-run home run. It was his 19th home run of the season and put the Expos ahead, 8-4.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Hale, "and then get after it again."
