Texas Loss Diminishes Perez Performance
|
Antonio Perez had a good game, but he could not keep the Texas Rangers from falling, 8-6, to the Minnesota Twins at Metropolitan Stadium. The Texas third baseman went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 in the loss. Rick Rhoden was the winner. Over 7 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 6 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. This win makes it 7 in a row for Minnesota.
Trevor Plouffe, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1998 draft, took Texas hurler Foster Edwards deep in the bottom of the third. His 3-run home run put the Twins on top, 3-0. In all, Plouffe had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Hitting is contagious. And when you have a lineup that's going to throw out competitive at-bats one through nine, it makes you want to join in," said Plouffe.
