New York (A) catcher Jorge Alfaro had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Alfaro was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, even as Texas beat the Yankees, 7-4. Texas reliever Buddy Groom snagged the win, upping his record to 2-0. Robert Garcia shouldered the loss. The loss drops New York (A) to 5-4.

Kennesaw, Georgia-born Tyler Stephenson came through in the clutch. In the top of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Rangers trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Texas on top.

"It feels good, just a great win all around," Stephenson said after the game.
