Mets Victorious at Miami, 5-1
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the New York (N) Mets and Miami Marlins.
The New York (N) Mets got a good effort from starter Ray Bare in defeating the Miami Marlins at Miami Park. The final score was 5-1. Bare got the win, improving to 5-3. He gave up 7 hits and walked 0 over 8.2 innings. He allowed 1 run.
Frank Robinson had a big 2-run home run for the Mets in the top of the third inning. With New York (N) leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a slider from Chris Holt, who is tied for 10th in the NL in innings pitched with 113.1, and punished it. The result was his 18th home run of the season, which put the Mets on top, 3-0.
"I'm just trying to make sure I'm focused for each and every pitch," said Bare.
New York (N) is first in the National League with a record of 52-31.
