Behind the hitting of Billy Goodman, the Montreal Expos stopped the St. Louis Cardinals, 8-6. Goodman went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times for the Expos. Joe Gilbert wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.

In the bottom of the third, ten-time All-Star George Shuba hit a 2-run home run. The 9th home run of the season for the Montreal designated hitter put the Expos on top, 4-3.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Shuba.
