The San Francisco Giants beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-5, in part because of center fielder Jon Jay. He was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Garrett Olson recorded the save, his 15th. San Francisco raised its record to 40-40 with the win.

San Francisco used the timely hitting of Harvey Hendrick to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Giants on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
