Expos Take Down Astros, 6-4
|
Fans who congregated at Minute Maid Park were treated to extra-inning drama.
The Montreal Expos racked up a win at Minute Maid Park, bumping off the Houston Astros, 6-4, in 10 innings. Pat Caraway, who started for Montreal, pitched effectively for his team. The win went to Luis Avilan in relief. His record improves to 4-4. David Carpenter took the loss.
John Hale came through with a big-time hit for Montreal. The left fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 6-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Pat pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Montreal manager Marwan Najdawi.
The Expos now have a record of 38-39 with the win over Houston.
