Fading Marlins Lose 6th Straight
Montreal starter Vern Olsen pitched well against the Miami Marlins at Miami Park. The left-hander led his team to a win, 6-4. Danny Patterson got credit for the win, improving to 1-3. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Lefty West wrapped it up, recording his 8th save.

Brett Gardner went 1-3 with 2 walks for Montreal. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Ben Blomdahl. It was his 12th walk of the season.

"Vern kept his poise and got the job done," said Montreal manager Marwan Najdawi. "He was outstanding."
