Tigers Upend Guardians, 5-2
|
Detroit and Cleveland duked it out and the Tigers came out victorious.
Detroit got a strong outing from Joey Hamilton as the Tigers defeated the Cleveland Guardians, 5-2, at League Park. Hamilton, now 4-11, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs.
Detroit took a 4-2 lead on Bruce Bochte's 14th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Bochte hit in the top of the eighth, left Cleveland pitcher Bob Wickman visibly frustrated.
"Feels good to get the job done," Bochte said after the game.
The Tigers, now 43-31, have won 4 in a row.
