Horton Helps St. Louis Outscore Texas
The St. Louis Cardinals outscored the Texas Rangers, 14-13. Among the hitting stars was first baseman Willie Horton. Horton, who is on pace to hit 46 home runs this season, went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 3. Jeff Suppan came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 3.1 innings. His record now stands at 4-0. Vince Colbert finished the game for St. Louis and earned his 15th save.

Mike Lowell, who led the AL in home runs with 26 in 1992, took Texas hurler Mark Leiter Jr. deep in the bottom of the fifth. His 3-run home run put the Cardinals on top, 12-9. In all, Lowell had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Horton told the St. Louis Herald.

The Cardinals win now puts them at 33-34.
