The Milwaukee Brewers routed the Montreal Expos, 19-3, at Stade Olympique. Johnny Romano, who led the AL in slugging percentage with .662 in 1998, was one of the hitting stars. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 4 for Milwaukee. Milwaukee is now 44-21, 5½ games up in the American League.

Milwaukee won the game in part because of Dale Murphy. The center fielder ripped a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Brewers ahead, 6-2. For the game, Murphy had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Milwaukee manager Mike Ejercito.
