St. Louis Keeps Spiraling Downward
The losses keep piling up for the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Colorado Rockies withstood an impressive performance by St. Louis right fielder Matt Kemp to defeat the Cardinals, 8-4, at Coors Field. Kemp went 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Colorado has run its win streak to 4 consecutive.

The Cardinals had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Rockies going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old second baseman Snuffy Stirnweiss came to the plate. Stirnweiss hit a 2-run triple on a 1-0 fastball from St. Louis hurler Si Johnson. It was Stirnweiss's 1st triple of the year.

St. Louis manager David Mandel, after yet another defeat, said: "Just different when you have that swimming feeling in your cranium. It's difficult to focus."
