Guardians Score Late, Stun Mariners, 6-5
|
Though he had a terrific game, Alex Avila could not prevent his team, the Seattle Mariners, from absorbing a loss. Cleveland won the game, 6-5. Avila was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. Camilo Doval earned the save for Cleveland, his 6th. The win has Cleveland at 24-39.
Cleveland took a 5-4 lead on Glenn Hoffman's 20th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Hoffman hit in the top of the ninth, left Seattle pitcher Enoli Paredes visibly frustrated.
"We found a way to get it done," Hoffman said.
