300 Homers for Schmidt
Back-back-back-gone! Mike Schmidt hit his 300th home run tonight against the San Francisco Giants.

Schmidt, of the New York (N) Mets, smiled as he rounded all the bases and got mobbed by his teammates at home plate.

The game did stop momentarily as the Mets celebrated this accomplishment.

"I was swinging for the fences and the pitch looked like a giant grape fruit," Schmidt said. "This is another check off my bucket list. I'll now be setting my sights the next milestone."

The Mets third baseman went 1 for 3 with 1 home run and 2 RBI as the New York (N) Mets won 13-2 over the San Francisco Giants.

In his career, Schmidt has hit .248 with 1181 hits, 171 doubles, 25 triples and 300 home runs. His totals also include 811 RBIs and 963 runs scored.
