Brewers Collect 5-3 Win Over Yankees
|
The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the New York (A) Yankees, 5-3, in 11 innings in American League action at Yankee Stadium. Milwaukee pitcher Sonny Gray had a standout performance. Jonathan Broxton, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1999 draft, was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-2. The losing pitcher was Sean Marshall. Milwaukee leads the American League by 2½ games.
Milwaukee used the timely hitting of Orlando Miller to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Brewers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We've got a great group of guys," Miller said, "and we're having fun right now."
