Guardians Edge Past Brewers, 6-5
|
The Cleveland Guardians defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 6-5, in 10 innings. Glenn Hoffman, who finished 4th in the NL in doubles with 45 in 1997, played a big role. Hoffman was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Guardians in the win. The Guardians go to 21-37 with the win.
The game was all tied up in the top of the tenth, until Hoffman delivered big-time for Cleveland, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Jonathan Broxton. The game-changing hit put the Guardians on top, 6-5.
"Our team showed some gumption," said Hoffman. "I like it."
