Giants Upend Marlins, 9-6
|
Despite a great performance by Miami first baseman Hal Trosky, the San Francisco Giants defeated the Marlins by the score of 9-6 at Miami Park. Trosky was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Esteban Loaiza, the winner, improved to 5-4. He held Miami to 6 runs on 6 hits over 8.1 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. The Giants now have a record of 29-27 with the win over Miami.
San Francisco used the hitting of Harvey Hendrick to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Giants on top, 4-0. For the game, Hendrick had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Hendrick, "one at-bat at a time."
