The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Houston Astros, 9-6, at Chase Field. Leading the charge for Arizona was catcher Daulton Varsho. He went 3-3 with 3 singles and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times. With the victory, the Diamondbacks upped their record to 34-20.

The Astros had been locked in a 5-5 tie with the Diamondbacks going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 13-year veteran Geronimo Pena came to the plate. Pena hit a solo home run on a 0-1 fastball from Houston hurler Luis Castillo. It was Pena's 4th home run of the year.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Arizona manager Alex Baxter.
