Cleveland Upended by Milwaukee, 8-1
|
The Milwaukee Brewers picked up a win at Miller County Field, taking down the Cleveland Guardians, 8-1. Starting pitcher Sonny Gray was a big reason why. The winner was Gray. He threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Don Kaiser. The Guardians, at 20-36, have lost 4 in a row.
Milwaukee first baseman George Scott contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 64th hit of the season and put the Brewers ahead, 3-1.
"What a dismal performance," lamented losing manager Kevin Conway.
