St. Louis Beats Baltimore, 6-4
|
John Valentin knocked in 3 runs to help St. Louis beat Baltimore, 6-4. The Mineola, New York native tallied 1 single and 1 home run. Picking up the win was Si Johnson. He went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits. The right--hander struck out 4 and walked 4. The loss makes Baltimore 16-33.
Valentin had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 fastball from Kevin Tapani, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Cardinals a 6-4 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Valentin.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said St. Louis manager David Mandel.
