Cleveland Beats San Francisco, 3-2
|
The umbrellas came out during the Cleveland-San Francisco contest at League Park.
In a low-scoring contest between the Cleveland Guardians and the San Francisco Giants, John Candelaria, who finished 2nd in the NL in innings pitched with 283.1 in 1981, proved to be the difference. The Cleveland left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Guardians win. Camilo Doval finished to wrap up his 4th save.
Glenn Hoffman hit a 3-run home run off Phil Ortega in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Guardians ahead, 3-2. In addition to the homer, Hoffman had 1 double, while going 2 for 3.
"It's a mindset," said Candelaria. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
The Guardians move to 20-32 with the win, while the Giants drop to 27-25.
