Cubs Bridle Mets, 3-2
The Chicago (N) Cubs eked out a 3-2 win versus the New York (N) Mets at Shea Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Jim Colborn. He was terrific. Mike Paul earned the save for Chicago (N), his 5th. The victory gives Chicago (N) a record of 31-19.

Ichiro Suzuki, who led the NL in hits with 228 in 1993, had a direct impact on the outcome. Suzuki contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the second inning to put Chicago (N) up, 2-0.

"I was the aggressor," said Colborn. "No doubt about it."
